Career Development
In 2005 we launched the first higher rhythm Creative Careers Programme.
This started at first as a project as part of the Equal last mile development partnership South Yorkshire, working with a range of other organisations across the Region to support people into careers within the regional creative industries. A few of our project beneficiaries are listed in our case studies portal, but in summary, from a total of 20 people, 18 are now working full time within the creative industries which underlines the success of the programme.
We have now combined the best elements of the Creative Careers Programme into key stages throughout all of higher rhythm's training and development programmes, and through supporting this with elements such as artist development, volunteering oportunities and personal tutorial sessions, we continue to support people to reach their own career goals.
Careers / enterprise development is also the key focus of our latest addition to higher rhythm's programmes... From the 15th to the 22nd of March 2008 we delivered Doncaster Music Week at venues across the town. This exciting week of free seminars and events, made possible by Success Doncaster, was presented by global music industry pro’s, giving local aspiring industry professionals a unique insight into how to get ahead in today’s changing music industry. Over 600 places were booked for the events by over 300 people and we are now following up this event with individual events called Doncaster Music Week Extra. So, if yuo are looking for a career in the music industry in any sector, then keep an eye out for future events under the Events page on this site.
For young people there is also a new exciting opportunity in partnership with the Prince's Trust... If you’re aged 14-25 unemployed, are in or leaving care, been in trouble with the police or have no qualifications, you could receive money and support to help get into accessing Higher Rhythm. Information sessions and individual appointments to discuss your idea are available locally. Phone free on 0800 842 842 or visit the Prince's Trust website www.princes-trust.org.uk
