Higher Rhythm was the Yorkshire region’s partner of Mapped Out.
Led by Generator and in partnership with Liverpool Sound City, Music South West and Community Music East, Mapped Out, aimed to establish a national contemporary music touring network that links high quality emerging talent to promoters and areas of low engagement, and build audiences by developing the potential of 12 MO promoters.
Each partner identified two venues and two promoters; the first in a city well serviced by high quality live music provision; the second in a nearby town where professional live music experiences are limited and infrastructure to support this activity is weak.
In the Yorkshire region, the first of these venues is The Harley in Sheffield, working with Kate who promotes this venue and is also a key organiser of Tramlines music festival. The second venue, in the area of lower engagement, is Cafe Indie in Scunthorpe, working alongside Adrian of Get Your Haircut promotions. The development opportunities and audience-building activity develop the infrastructure to build music scenes in areas of low engagement.
The MO network also included 6 booking agents, who suppied the headline artists for each tour, with a tour consisting of 12 dates, with 2 in each of the 6 regions managed by each partner.
Mapped Out was funded by Arts Council England under the Strategic Touring network programme.
