14 Apr 2008: Big Lottery Fund new Chief Exec Visit
On the 14th April we a very special guest popped in to see us at the studio. Peter Wanless is the new chief executive of the UK's Big Lottery Fund and on a visit to regional office in Leeds, decided to call in and have a look at a BLF project in the area, so droped in to higher rhythm with a couple of the regional staff for a tour.
Peter has been in post at BLF since January this year, taking over from Stephen Dumore (who we were also lucky enough to have visit us last year), who in turn succeeded Richard Gutch (who became the futurebuilders chrief exec) who, as matter of co-oincidence, also visited us at our last facility in 2004... now that's what we call getting involved at ground level !
After originally studying in Leeds, Peter went on to be John Major's then Michael Portillo's private secretary, later moving onto work in the treasury and now brings his wealth of experience (and positive, down to earth attitude) to BLF.
On the day he enjoyed a tour of the higher rhythm facility, calling in on a recording session, a couple of classes and finally being interviewed live on air by Daniel McGrath, one of our learners, on our community radio station Sine FM.
