Doncaster Sound Memories new project launch

Doncaster sound memories

Launched in January 2022, Doncaster Sound Memories project which will celebrate the fascinating stories of people from Doncaster as oral histories. It will do this through features on Sine FM radio station, on online platforms, and via the production of a large-scale public art piece.

There’s lots of opportunity for local people to get involved in the Doncaster Sound Memories project. You could either either through just telling us your story, or come on board as a project volunteer (or both!).

Maybe you’ve had a cup of tea with one of the Beatles… Bumped into Joey Ramone on town fields… Or picked up Kylie in a taxi! These are just some of the stories we’ve heard over the years! These kind of stories are what started the idea to develop this exciting new project. These stories are important locally. We want to preserve them as part of Doncaster’s history for people to enjoy in the future.

There’s free training available too… Learn how to interview, or discover how to produce audio features for radio. Develop new skills interviewing people in order to create oral histories.

This project is funded through Heritage Lottery Fund and is free to access for anybody from Doncaster.

If you’re from Doncaster, and have a musical story you think we’d love to hear, follow the link below.
