Higher Rhythm presents an exclusive night with Skinny Pelembe

Skinny Pelembe Doncaster live return… Graduating from Higher Rhythm’s Breakthrough Artist Development programme in 2016, stellar success followed. He signed with Brownswood Recordings, and has played sell out tours and major festivals. He’s been championed by BBC Radio’s Lauren Laverne, Mary Ann Hobbs, Giles Peterson and Tom Ravenscroft (to name a few…)

Higher Rhythm is proud to bring Skinny Pelembe, back to his home town of Doncaster, for this one-off live date at, CAST. Born in Johannesburg, growing up in Doncaster, Skinny poses a quadruple threat – he produces, plays guitar, sings and MCs, tapping into a unique, influence-weaving sound. There’s an underwater quality to his music, an otherworldliness that bubbles up and dissipates. Guitars wash over twinkling melodies while lyrics fade into dubby drum beats.

Skinny says: “It’s a kind of therapy – I need to do it rather than want to do it.” It’s this urgency that should see his sound break from the murky waters of its genesis up on to the surface.

Cited as one of the UK’s most exciting emerging music artists, tickets sell out quickly. Thanks to Higher Rhythm’s relationship with Youth Music, tickets for this one off event, will be offered FREE. Tickets are available, one per person, to make this unique Doncaster show open to all.
