See that yellow box at the top of the wheelchair ramp? That’s a defibrillator, the only public defibrillator accessible 24/7 in this area of Doncaster.
We installed this last year not just to look after the users of our building, but for the whole community (that’s why it’s on the front of our building).
Many neighbouring businesses, such as the restaurants on our street, are aware of this, but there will be hundreds of other businesses and establishments in our area of Doncaster who probably aren’t aware. The general public should be aware also.
To access the defibrillator dial 999. If the emergency operator decides a defibrillator is needed, and no paramedic is available, they will provide a code to unlock the cabinet, providing access. After use, simply return the defibrillator to the cabinet and it will recharge, ready for someone else to use.
Our building is on Nether Hall road , Doncaster, at the crossroads of Christ Church Road.
All you need to do is share this info with anyone who should know about it. Saving a life really could be that simple.
As well as the cost of installing the defibrillator, keeping this important community resource maintained (electricity to keep it charging, and new electrode pads every time it’s used) is a continuing expense.
