Young people say positive things about Youth Music funded project

In January 2018 we launched a Youth Music funded project, for young people from Doncaster. The music inclusion project offers young people opportunities to record music in our studios. They also learn about broadcast media through our radio station, and organise live music events.

The Music Inclusion project focuses on providing accredited learning in music technology. It aims to support young people who face barriers to participating in music making. Music inclusion also aims to engage young people who are facing a range of significant challenges in their lives.

The Youth Music : Music Inclusion project, takes participants 14-25 through a Bronze Arts Award course in songwriting and recording. This helps helping them to develop a wide range of creative and soft skills.

Using our online learning platform, participants are guided, at their own pace, through the course. The online platform also provides all the information needed to successfully complete the Arts Award.

In January 2019 some of these young people helped to organise a live event at CAST performance venue featuring Brownswood recording artist Skinny Pelembe and Sheffield based artist LIO.

The following video reflects on the experiences of the Youth Music funded project in the words of the people involved…
