Higher Rhythm owns and operates Doncaster DAB (DonDAB for short), Doncaster’s DAB radio multiplex service. The multiplex carries multiple radio stations, enabling them to broadcast over DAB to the whole Doncaster Borough (the largest metropolitan borough in the country with a population of 308,000).
A DAB radio multiplex can host over 20 stations, allowing them to broadcast to the same geographic area. Previously, DAB multiplexes have served large areas, such as counties. Ofcom are now offering licenses to run multiplexes in smaller areas such as cities. This allows each area to have its own mix of radio stations. Doncaster DAB will enable more local stations to operate, offering listeners greater choice.
