Meet the Y-MIX Industry Practitioners

Paul Dakeyne – DJ, Producer and Spatial Audio Engineer.

Paul Dakeyne is a Producer with over 3 decades of experience in electronic music, and a long standing resident DJ for Ministry of Sound. Paul is considered a pioneer of remixing, with over 300 records in his catalogue, and has played sets for U2 and Kraftwerk, as well as producing music for major BBC TV shows. Always the innovator in digital audio, Paul has built one of the only Dolby Atmos studios in Yorkshire.

Danny Sapko – Music YouTuber and Digital Media Producer.

Danny Sapko, in his words, is a BEHS player, YouTuber, poet, critic, investigative reporter, and an expert in taking the mick… In our words Danny, is a Yorkshire based musician who has built a career as a popular YouTuber, skilfully taking his music sideways to create a character version of himself and earn a living through digital media. Don’t let all this fool you though, he still REALLY knows his way around a bass.

J. Kas – Independent Hip Hop Artist and Rapper.

J. Kas is a hip-hop artist and rapper based in Sheffield, UK. Known as a prominent voice coming out of the Steel City, he blends a signature boom-bap hip-hop style with genres like pop, R&B, reggae, and Afro-beats. He is a frequent performer across the UK and internationally, having played at major festivals, and he’s a very old friend of Higher Rhythm, coming to our first studio before Higher Rhythm was even a thing… old school.

Sarah Shiels – Music Artist & Director of The Adelphi, Hull.

Based in Kingston upon Hull, Sarah is an atmospheric alternative and indie-electronic songwriter, vocalist, and bassist. She originally gained recognition as a live bassist and blues-rock artist before pivoting toward electronic production. She performs as a solo artist, leads her own live band project, and has been a member of grassroots groups like The Velvet Dolls. Sarah is also a director of the iconic Hull music venue The Adelphi.

Zawedde Walusimbi – Project Lead, Higher Rhythm.

As a Folk and Soul singer-songwriter, Zawedde is a recipient of a PRS Foundation Women Make Music grant. Zawedde also brings her wide experience as a music creator and event organiser into her tutoring and project coordination roles at Higher Rhythm. Zawedde is also a steering board member of South Yorkshire Music Hub.
